Social Networking

In modern society, social networking is a great opportunity for communities to grow.  In the past, community was only based on physical location, but now it is not.  Communities are much more specialized.  No longer are we friends only with our neighbors and co-workers, but now we can find anyone interested in anything we might think of, thanks to the internet.  Social networking shows that while groups may have an identity of their own, the individual is the integral part.  Individuals make networks, and the overall group dynamic can be seen through the intereactions of those individuals.  Specializaton and customization have been considered great advances in areas of business and manufacturing, and just now those principles are being applied to social constructs as well.
