customer focus

It seems Ebay has taken a customer based focus to a whole new level. Some companies like Dell give customers the option to customize what they want, but Ebay truly allows the customer to run every part of the business. It seems like a great business model - instead of giving your customer’s just some choices, let them do so much they actually ship products for you. Started as an online auction house, it was one of the first companies to take a conventional idea and apply it to an internet model. Even problems such as fraud are handled by users. Rating systems leave those problems in the hands of the user, further showing the concept of a user-driven site. Some unique problems have come about through Ebay. The practice of selling inexpensive items with greatly inflated shipping costs often takes place. Another practice is that of adding additional charges to the use of PayPal to cover the costs of using PayPal themselves. With additional technologies such as Ebay, new and more complex problems set in.
