Facebook first had controversy when it produced a program like Google called Beacon. This enabled people to share inforamtion with Facebook from browsing the web.
Mark Zuckerberg came under more controversy when two of his former classmates at Harvard claimed that he had stole their idea, origin, source code, and business plan.
